We're from here.
The Acres Homes Community Advocacy Group led by locals to meet the needs of our community. Since our beginning as the organizers behind the Acres Homes Renaissance Festival, we've become a group leading efforts to make sure the neighborhood is healthy and heard.

"We are Acres Homes!"

Mission
Our mission is to promote neighborhood participation while gathering resources from the public and private sectors to address the immediate needs of our community. Engagement from our residents will create a sense of resilience and inclusivity between the generations.
Vision
The Acres Homes Community Advocacy Group aims to preserve the community through educational training, community organizing, and communal gatherings.
Our focus is to establish and sustain our community groups to empower residents of Acres Homes to become more civically engaged and support the next generation of residents. An important part of taking care of our neighborhood is ensuring that our neighbors have access to information and resources that can enhance their overall quality of life, including resources to revitalize their homes, information about how government directly impact their lives or providing free resources to enhance their overall health.
Pillars
-
Civic Engagement: Cultivating a community where every resident is actively involved in shaping the decisions that impact their lives
-
Wellness Advocacy: Strengthening relationships between local, state, and federal entities to create a resilient community

The Acres Homes Community Advocacy Group was founded in 2022 by E. Rain Eatmon, a lifelong resident of Acres Homes.
Rain Eatmon is a native Houstonian from the Acres Homes community and is a former music educator, state representative staff member, City of Houston Council staff member, and she currently serves as the founder & CEO of the Acres Homes Community Advocacy Group.
She aims to lend her expertise in community engagement to help strengthen grassroots leadership in the Acres Homes Community and leverage her partnerships to consolidate resources for residents across Acres Homes. Rain strives to create spaces where community members, non-profit organizations, and leaders are able to participate in uplifting their own neighborhoods through intentional, specialized engagement.
